Here we have a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL in Champagne metallic over Palomino leather. The SL is marketed as a grand touring sports car by Mercedes-Benz since 1954. The SL designation comes from the German Sport-Leicht - Sport Light. The SL started off as a 300SL race car in 1952 before entering production in 1954. The production of the original iconic 1st-generation 300SL ended in 1963 when the 2nd-generation W113 came about. Then came this 3rd-generation R107 from 1971-1989. It was introduced with a whole new design, engines & safety features.
The seller reportedly acquired this 380SL from a family friend in December 2023 when it had just under 81,900 miles / 131,800 km; it had been sitting for almost 10 years. When it was delivered the vehicle was not running, the seller brought it to the garage to learn what it needed. At that point the seller ordered the parts from FCPEuro.com & later had the work done at REV DIY Auto Repair in Rolla, Missouri. The seller states the parts alone were over $5,000 USD. Other parts are included with the vehicle reportedly valued at over $2,000 USD. A strong amount of preventative maintenance has been completed. The vehicle is said to be all original other than the Pioneer audio unit. The hardtop & storage stand is reportedly included as well.
It is powered by a 3.8L V8 engine spinning the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car shows 82,029 miles / 132,013 km on the odometer & is said to be the original mileage. All is said to be in proper working order with the vehicle.
