The El Camino had multiple different engine options; this one is powered by the 5.7L 350ci 4-barrel L48 V8 spinning the rear wheels through a 3-speed TH400 automatic transmission. In the 3rd generation, for the first time, the Chevrolet 350 V8 was used in an El Camino. This example is an SS clone; it has SS badging & SS appearance conversion. These 1970 models received sheet metal revisions that gave the bodies a more squared-up stance & the interiors were also redesigned. The El Camino is a coupé utility vehicle produced for 5 different generations by Chevrolet. Firstly from 1959-1960 & then from 1964-1987. It was first offered in the 1959 model year in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero. Its first run, based on the Biscayne's B-body & lasted only 2 years. Production then resumed for the 1964–1977 model years based on the Chevelle platform and then continued for the 1978–1987 model years based on the GM G-body platform.
