Here we have this very rare & unique 1981 Porsche 924 Safari Tribute. During covid in 2021 the seller transformed this 924 into an off-roading Porsche coupe. Those are not words you hear very often, making this extremely unique. A mainly original example other than the Safari modifications. It was given everything needed from a suspension lift to beefy tires to a roof rack. This 924 is also a European market example. By not being the US spec model it does not have the low-impact bumpers, the round reflectors or the side marker lamps on each end of the body. This car is in great condition for its age & is a true head turner everywhere it goes. In a land of Ferrari's & Lamborghini's this Porsche would still stand out strongly.
The 924 is a 2-door 2+2 coupé & was produced from 1976-1988 with minor changes almost year. In 1980, the 924 received its main upgrades including a 3-way catalyst & higher compression that increased power. The 924 was the first production road-going Porsche to use water cooling & a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. It was also the first Porsche to be offered with a conventional fully automatic transmission while this one is the more desirable manual. The 924 was a sales success, with just over 150,000 produced.
Powered by a 2.0L Volkswagen EA831 Inline-4 front mid-engine spinning the rear wheels through a 5-speed getrag manual transmission. This is a go-anywhere Porsche coupé! It provides a lot of car, a major fun factor & a Porsche badge for a small cost. It has no rust & shows 76,000 miles on the odometer.
