The wheels were said to be professionally refinished in the original silver colour; they were bead blasted in & out. The SL is marketed as a grand touring sports car by Mercedes-Benz since 1954. The SL designation comes from the German Sport-Leicht - Sport Light. The SL started off as a 300SL race car in 1952 before entering production in 1954. The production of the original iconic 1st-generation 300SL ended in 1963 when the 2nd-generation W113 came about. Then came this 3rd-generation R107 from 1971-1989.
