Here we have a well optioned 1984 Volkswagen Scirocco with a 1988 Scirocco engine. The original Turbo 1.8L engine blew and was then replaced with a stock used '88 naturally aspirated 1.8L Inline-4 that had around the same mileage at the time. It was a direct replacement & did not cause or have any issues; easy job. It features a full 16V body kit from the face-lifted 2nd generation Scirocco MK2. 16V models featured a rear spoiler, a rear window wiper, and a body-colored aerodynamic body kit, including matching mirrors and fender flares.
This hatchback 3-door is a 2nd generation Scirocco which were in production for 10 years from 1981-1991.
The current owner's father purchased the vehicle in 2007 & got started on the restoration shortly after. The son (current owner) took over ownership in late 2017 with roughly 180,000 KM on it. It was his daily for 2 years until 2019, then here & there as a couple of other vehicles were added to the stable. Between 2007 & 2017 the car saw very few miles. The '88 Scirocco engine in it now has been in the car for the last ~50,000 KM.
