Mercedes-Benz introduced the W124 generation in 1986 to replace the W123 & was produced until 1997. In 1994 Mercedes-Benz turned it into the 1st official E-Class. The W124 was the 1st Mercedes series to be fitted with the iconic "Gullideckel" 15-hole, flat-faced alloy wheels, characteristic of Mercedes-Benz cars of the '80s & '90s. Much of the W124's engineering & features were an example of advanced automotive technology. It had one of the lowest coefficient of drag (Cd) of any vehicle of the time due to its aerodynamic body.
